YB Chow, Puan Patahiyah and team,

Thank you for taking time out in your busy schedule to meet the residence.

We are concern about the buildings in town and how to protect them.

May I be so bold as to say that a fine or jail sentence is not the way to go, the burden of proof will be "beyond a reasonable doubt" and it will be next to impossible to prove who is the person who gave the order to demolish.

Instead there should be a law, that the authorities cannot approve any planning application for a  period of five , maybe ten years for the property where illegal demolition of the building has taken place. It can be a strict liability no fault penalty.

We can look at this in respect of our Penang Heritage Act.

I believe this will stop most if not all developers who are profit bottom line driven.

I cannot help but keep stressing this point as we are now a UNESCO Heritage City and it has done wonders to Penang the past few years, most glorious of all is that it has made the people fo Penang proud to be a Penangite.

Regards
